Technika Shower Grate/Channel
The Aguzzo Technika grate shower/channel is the latest design and provides traditional grate styling suitable for both a minimalist or classic bathroom. Its design is easy to keep clean. We offer a variety of widths and lengths across all styles, and can even custom manufacture a grate to your requirements. This is very helpful option if you wish to design the grate to align with an existing drainhole. See our custom shower grates for more information.
Shower grates/channel are in
The modern recessed shower grate/channel provides high quality styling to a contemporary bathroom. The benefits of a shower grate go beyond their superior looks - the installation of a shower grate is generally far simpler than a centre waste. Grading floor tiles to the grate's linear edge is far easier than the labour involved in grading, bedding, grouting and tiling around a centre waste. Taking labour into account, the shower grate is usually the more economical (and far more impressive looking) option.
Peace of mind
Our highest quality 100% marine grade stainless steel shower grates have no plastic components and are manufactured in Australia to Australian Watermark standards. The laser welders used are aviation standard and are the benchmark of the industry, and all the products and manufacturing processes have been rigorously tested by NATA (National Australian Testing Authority) for both load and flow requirements. How to Install Aguzzo Shower Grates/Channel
Drainage is governed by Australian Standards, and the drainage in a bathroom situation is a function of the bathroom drainage plumbing, the water-proofing, the drain apparatus, and the fall to the drain opening (usually tiles). Each of these contributors to the drainage in your bathroom may have a different tradesperson responsible so it is sometimes important that they are all aware of the planned installation technique.
Importantly, your bathroom should be properly water-proofed with a water-proof membrane in accordance to Australian Standard AS3740 before installing the shower grate channel. This essentially means any water/moisture under your tiles will find its way to the drainage plumbing installed by the plumber. Innovative drainage flanges are now best practice to ensure this sub-floor moisture can exit the drain. They also protect the pipework from debris entering during construction (see the video).
Aguzzo stainless steel shower grates are designed to sit above the water proofing of your bathroom and simply provide a surface channel for surface water to the drainage plumbing, and they should not be allowed to interupt the flow and escape of any sub-tile moisture which your water-proofing and drainage system has allowed for.
The diagram below provides an illustration of the typical installation in a bathroom with a concrete sub-floor - it shows the situation where the water-proof membrane (green) has been laid on top of the screed (left hand side) and where the membrane has been laid under the screed (right hand side). This shower grate is suitable for both types of water-proof membrane application. Download the installation guide below for installation steps and further installation illustrations for timber floors and various grate positions (against walls, hobs, shower screens, etc).
It is recommended that the steel tray and outlet do not contact the water-proof membrane, seal the drainage plumbing, or be sealed to the drainage plumbing, so any moisture in the tile bedding/screed can escape. A build up of moisture in the screed can ultimately cause damp/mildew and tiles can dislodge. See diagram above.
It is also recommended that the membrane is completed before installing the Aguzzo shower grate. If the membrane is integrated with the stainless steel shower grate, differences in the expansion and contraction rates of hardened stainless steel vs surrounding building materials can result in the membrane weakening or splitting where it joins the steel. Your licensed water-proofer can advise you on the best methods for water-proofing your bathroom.

Unless otherwise stated, orders are typically despatched within one business day. If an order is made after hours or on non-business days it is deemed to be made on the next business day - so, for example, an order made on the weekend will be queued for despatch on the Monday, and is typically despatched that day or the following business day. If you order before 10am on a business day we make best efforts to despatch it the same day.
Delivery timeframes are dependent on your location, which distribution centre we are sending from, the size and number of parcels, and the schedules of the carrier. Australia Post and Toll Ipec are our preferred carriers, although sometimes other carriers are utilised. In most cases the average delivery times we observe are:
|VIC Metro||1 to 3 business days|
|VIC Regional||2 to 4 business days|
|NSW Metro||2 to 4 business days|
|NSW Regional||4 to 6 business days|
|QLD Metro||3 to 5 business days|
|QLD Regional||4 to 9 business days|
|TAS, SA, WA and NT||3 to 9 business days|
These are average delivery times and we often observe shorter and longer timeframes. Renovator Store cannot control delivery timeframes and processes, and your first point of communication on a delivery is the carrier.
To see more detailed estimated delivery timeframes visit our Estimated Shipping Times page.
Your order might arrive in separate deliveries
An order might come in multiple parcels. Sometimes we might send your order in more than one package or from different distribution centres, and they may arrive at different times.
How can I track my order delivery?
In most cases you will be sent instructions by email on how to track your delivery once your order has been completed. In some cases tracking information is not available. If you are concerned about the progress of your delivery the fastest way to get information is to contact the carrier and quote the tracking number. We can only see the same tracking information available to you.
What if I am not at home to accept delivery?
Australia Post and Toll typically require a signature upon delivery and our nominated couriers typically deliver only during business hours. So it is best to provide a shipping address that will be attended during business hours. If someone is not available to accept the goods the standard practice is to leave a card informing you how to collect at your local Post Office or for re-delivery.
You can put a short note on your order on the order checkout screen to provide delivery instructions, however Renovator Store cannot guarantee the carrier will observe these requests.
We can deliver to an Australia Post Parcel Locker
For a single item purchase you can easily arrange for delivery to an Australia Post parcel locker. There are 200 locations across Australia (also at 7-Eleven Stores and BP Service Stations) that are accessible 24/7 and free to arrange. They will email and SMS you when its ready to collect! Save time and money. We have heard time and again that shower grates are a time saver when it comes to installation. The installation of a shower grate is generally far simpler than a centre waste. Grading floor tiles to the grate's linear edge is far easier than the labour involved in grading, bedding, grouting and tiling around a centre waste. Taking labour into account, the shower grate is usually the more economical (and far more impressive looking) option.
Ensure sub-floor water can escape There is a wide level of misunderstanding when it comes to waterproofing a new bathroom - even among the plumbing trade. It is something that you should get professional advice on. We do suggest that when you select an outlet for your shower grate, that it fits LOOSELY inside the plumbed drain. Water does permeate through tile grouting into the tile bedding and over the water-proofing towards the lowest point (your plumbed drain). Ensuring the outlet of the grate tray is loose in the plumbing will allow any water travelling under the tiles through the bedding to escape down the plumbed drain too. Some plumbers make the mistake of tightly sealing or even siliconing the shower drain outlet into the plumbing but this means if you have any water travelling under your tiles through the mortar and sub-floor, it will not be able to escape. This is likely to eventually result in damp under your tiles which can lift tiles and/or result in an odour.
Shower bases are out! Modern bathroom designs often avoid a shower base and simply use the tiled floor as the base of the shower. Grates are great looking drainage solutions in these designs - consider a shower grate across the entrance to your shower, or even around the perimeter for more exposed shower designs.
Cleaning. If you need to clean your shower grate simply wipe it with a clean cloth. The top cover is removable to access the drain. Being marine grade stainless steel, a heavier buildup can even be removed with a light grade kitchen scourer - just gently rub in the direction of the hole pattern or brushed pattern on the stainless steel.
Sizing. Shower grates are supplied as a single piece length by default (up to 3m). Over 3m the grate is supplied in equal part lengths, allowing for positioning of the outlet(s), with welded joining plates.
