Have you been into the spare bedroom since storing last seasons clothes? Spare bedrooms tend to be small and neglected spaces with little interior design and effort. Would you be prepared to host your Great Aunt if they turned up in a hurry? Turn your spare bedroom into a luxurious retreat in a few simple steps.
The colour scheme of spare bedrooms should be kept simple and fresh. A bright white, light grey or baby blue are common choices for guest bedrooms due to the soft and co-operative nature of them. Complement your neutral scheme with a pop of colour by adding bright cushions and a throw! Add a range of different textures for interest and appeal.
Keep furniture to a minimum, as spare bedrooms are often small spaces as it is and you don’t want your guest to feel cluttered. Substitute a queen sized bed for a double and install a small chest of drawers rather than a freestanding wardrobe. A few hooks on the back of the door should suffice for hanging space.
Attach some floating shelves to the walls to fill with an interesting collection of books and ornaments and always remember to leave a fresh towel and jug of water by the bed.
